3 Tips For Doing Your Own Waxing

If you have a lot of body hair that you'd like to get rid of, but you don't like the idea of having someone else remove it for you, then you can always do it yourself. An excellent way to get rid of this body hair is by waxing it off. Waxing removes the entire hair follicle, so it takes much longer for the hair to grow back in than if you were simply shaving the hair down to skin level. However, because waxing is somewhat of a learning process, it is important that you do it correctly in order to avoid any unwanted results. Here are three tips for doing your own waxing.

Make Sure The Wax Is Hot Enough

A lot of people fear making the wax too hot, but another problem is not making the wax hot enough. If the wax is not hot enough to fully stick to your skin, then there is no way that it will stick to the hair and actually pull it out when you pull off the wax. You can always test the wax on a less sensitive part of your skin, such as your finger, before placing it on the area that you'd like to wax.

Use A Mirror

If you are waxing an area that is somewhat difficult to see, such as your bikini line or your armpits, then you should definitely use a mirror to help you out. The mirror can guide you to put wax in the appropriate areas, and it can help you get the most accurate wax possible. This prevents you having to wax over and over in order to get everything, which can become somewhat painful in some of the more sensitive areas of your body.

Use An Unscented Lotion

Once you are done waxing an area, it may look red and feel a bit sensitive. A great way to help with this sensitivity is to apply a small amount of lotion to the area. By using a lotion that is unscented, you make sure that the skin doesn't become more irritated by the perfumes or other added ingredients for scent. Instead, the unscented lotion simply adds moisture to the skin and some relief.

If you'd like to do your own waxing, then make sure that your wax is hot enough when you apply it to your skin, use a mirror when waxing areas that are difficult to see, and use an unscented lotion on your skin when you are done.
